It is the height of the age of the East Wind. You are one of the many gardeners who tend to the Emperor’s rose garden. One day as you are pruning roses the Empress and a court poet stroll by. They are obviously deep in conversation and do not see you. You are shocked to hear them planning an assignation. You feel that you should tell somebody, but who? There is the guard that you have flirting with – he is an official; perhaps he will know what to do. There is the chief gardener – he, too, is an official. There is a courtier who sometimes speaks to you – he would know the court better. Then, too, it might be best to keep your mouth shut.
