Letters to the Editor, January 2000

This a traditional letter column. You are encouraged to write a letter of comment on anything that you find worthy of comment. It will (may) be published in this column along with my reply. As editor I reserve the right to delete material; however I will not alter the undeleted material. E-mail to me that solely references the contents of this site will be assumed to be publishable mail. All other e-mail is assumed to be private. And, of course, anything marked not for publication is not for publication. Oh yes, letters of appreciation for the scholarly resources provided by this site will be handled very discreetly. This page contains the correspondence for January 2000.

’69 trockenbeerenauslese

Hi there … came across your page through a search for “trockenbeerenauslese”, and I thought I’d impose on your time with a difficult question, if you have a minute …

My dad has one remaining bottle of 1969 Trockenbeerenauslese from Austria. It’s a 10 on the sweet scale. The label is really deteriorated but I think it says “Rolfe Alte Goffellerri Wien”. Do you know anyone who has had this kind of wine at this age? Would say this is a drink-up-quick?

It should be fine, indeed more than fine. I don’t know where the limit is but I’ve drunk thirty year old beerenauslses and trockenbeerenausleses which were quite lovely. I would drink it in the next year or two, though.

Mr. Harter,

You are a very peculiar persom, which is not a neccessarily a bad thing these days.

I doubt that it will shock you to learn that other people have said that.
I stumbled upon your website quite by accident and plan to spend some more time here being fascinated.

Just thought I would mention, the link to:

Virginia Tech Online Speculative Fiction Project
is not functional . . . pity, that looked very interesting.

Enjoyed the rest of the stay however.

It’s a pity about the link. My impression is that the project has been moved but I haven’t tracked down the new link. I hope the rest of the site is intriguing. My website is best found by accident.

Subj: Inclusion in

a conversation I had with a boyfriend (now ex)of mine.

me: “I got a thesaurus for my birthday”
him: “are they extinct?”

enough said?

Giggle, snort, chortle. I broke up laughing. It definitely doesn’t sound like a meeting of minds. For one thing, one side was missing a mind.

Subj: congratulations

the “chicken…” page is simply great! Have you done anything else similar? I’d like to read it

I’m guessing that you are referring to the page about the chickens crossing the road. The following pages might be to your liking:
