How Kangaroos Got To AustraliaIn the talk.origins newsgroup someone raised the question of how kangaroos got to Australia after the flood. I thought about this for 42 microseconds and replied as follows: There is no real problem about kangaroos getting to Australia. Recall that there were only two kangaroos on the ark. Now it is quite evident that kangaroos (and all other manner of beasties) couldn’t make it to the ark on their own. Ergo, they must have been brought there, i.e., Noah’s agents (presumably his sons) went around the world and gathered the requisite number of beasts of each kind. As to how the kangaroos got to Australia, the answer is obvious – they were transported there. The captious quibbler might ask as to how they were transported but the answer is again obvious; they were transported by boat. And if one wonders where they got the boat, why the answer is right at hand – they used the ark, either as it was or dissassembled.A certain Friar Broccoli then asked, “You’re pretty good at this. Maybe you can answer my favorite question: Why didn’t Noah take an dinosaurs on the ark?” To which I replied: What dinosaurs? Have you ever seen a dinosaur? (Computer animations in the Jurassic Park movies don’t; neither do birds – that’s just a fantasy of hippy paleontologists.) I haven’t, nobody has. There’s no such thing as a dinosaur. Pity, that, great big meat eaters with sharp pointed teeth make for excellent movies. What we do have, all that we have ever had, are rocks that look like bones.Friar Broccoli responded with: When I first read your words they so inspired me that I immediately opened my bible at RANDOM, and the VERY FIRST passage I read was Matthew 16:18:
