You have an agreeable flirtation with your young man. He is too shy to attempt to bed you. You are considering whether to make advances yourself when there is a crisis. One day he comes to you and asks you to marry him now. It seems that the lord of the manor likes young boys even better than he likes women and that he has made unmistakable advances to your friend.

If he were married the lord would not be interested. You do not want to be married now and you are not sure you want to marry your friend. On the other hand you do not want to see him become one of the lord’s pretty boys. You could counsel him to refuse the lord’s advances but you don’t know if he has the will power to do so. What will you do?

Marry him.
Refuse to marry him.
Counsel him to say no to the lord.
