Australian teaThe last time I wasn’t in Australia I visited the small village of Mersey that no one has heard of. Not being a Christian sort I stopped in at the local parsonage to have a spot of tea with the parson. He asked if I would like the local specialty, a tea made from Koala bears. (I didn’t ask how this was done; I couldn’t bear the answer.) I agreed and he brought out a pot of a dark and murky tea. I sipped it gingerly (it was accompanied by slices of candied ginger). It was quite good, but I quickly discovered that there were bits of hair in the tea. I remonstrated with the parson, who was quite surprised and replied in turn, “My son, surely you know that the Koala tea of Mersey is not strained.” This page was last updated February 1, 2007. |
