Pheasant poachers in South DakotaFedora, SD, June 10 – During the 1999 and 2000 seasons, the Game Fish and Parks Department set up an undercover investigation. Investigators camped out in Fedora, just north of Mitchell, SD. They found hunters shooting from moving cars, unlawfully possessing big game, and using vehicles to flush out animals. Prosecutors got convictions for 14 poachers. Three of the men have a weird sentence though. They’ll serve 60 days in jail. But, they’ll do it in 20-day increments over the next three starts to pheasant season.
