He only missed one questionA Marine Corps Captain and an Army Captain, having just left the service, were interviewing for the same job with a company just outside a Army base. Both applicants, having the same qualifications, were asked to take a test by the Department manager. Upon completion of the test both men only missed one of the questions. The manager went to the Army captain and said, “Thank you for your interest, but we’ve decided to give the Marine captain the job.” The Army captain asked,”And why are you doing that? We both got 9 questions correct. This being Army country and me being ex-Army, I should get the job!” The manager explained,”We made our decision not on the correct answers, But on the question you missed.” “And just how would one incorrect answer be better than the other?”asked the Army captain.” “Simple,”explained the manager,”The Marine captain answered question #5 with ‘I don’t know’. You put down ‘Neither do I’.” This page was last updated July 1, 1998. |
